The central question is not whether science has delivered results: it has given us useful breakthroughs applied in medicine, agriculture, communications and other fields that improved the length and quality of life of missions. The crux of the matter remains: is the predominant scientific enterprise as healthy as it should be?

How students learn to be scientists? Are they aware of what influences what and how they investigate? Education can prevent their indoctrination into the very narrow culture of one particular field or unquestioned influences such as corporate power.
